Q - Who are your favourite singers or groups of all time? Which current artists are you enjoying?
A - My all-time favourites are Dusty Springfield, Harry Nilsson, the Beatles, Perry Como and Patti Page. My current favourites include Sarah McLachlan and Shania Twain. I also enjoy Celine Dion, Christina Aguilara and Whitney Houston, the best three voices of our time. Those women are so good, it's frightening.
Q - Is there anyone out there, besides me, that loves your song “Wintery Feeling”? There is something so special about fresh snow falling against a silver sky, as twilight approaches – the world seems to produce a “good” kind of sadness.
A - “Wintery Feeling” is among my top ten favourites of all the songs I ever recorded. I do it in my Christmas show. (Ed. Note – “Wintery Feeling” is included on Anne’s 1979 album “I’ll Always Love You”, which has been re-released as part of Anne’s “Signature Series, vol. 7” CD. You can purchase your copy of this CD through our Music and Gift Shop.)
Q - Can you give us an update on your golf game? What is your golf handicap in 2006 and what is your best score to date?
A - My golf handicap is now around 12, and I shot the best round of my career in the summer of 2006 - a 78!
Q – Do you have anything special on your tour bus which is an “absolute must” to have along with you when you travel?
A - My pillow.
Q - What was your very first professional singing gig? Where and when was it, and how much did you get paid (if you don't mind my asking that part of the question!)?
A - When I was at UNB (University of New Brunswick) in the 1960's, they hired me to sing at the Curling Club in Fredericton. I was paid probably around $30 or $40,
Q - Is there any place in the world where you would like to travel, that you have not yet had the opportunity to visit?
A - I would love to go to Ireland. I want to play golf there.
Q - I would love to find out what your favourite fragrance is.
A - Caleche by Hermes.
Q - Being Canadian, do you say “eh” very often at the end of your sentences?!
A - Probably, but I don’t realize I’m doing it.
Q – Do you have any rituals or routines to help you maintain your wonderful voice?
A- In order to maintain your voice, you have to sing all the time.
Q – Over the years, there have been a lot of songs I have heard you sing. Whether on a TV special or live in concert, it’s obvious you’ve had a lot of fun performing some of these – songs like “Everything Old Is New Again” and “You Won’t See Me”. Of all the songs you’ve performed, which songs are the most FUN?
A - “Blue Finger Lou” and “Oh Yes I Do” are great fun.
Q - Were you ever such a big fan of someone that you were nervous of meeting them?
A - There were lots. Two that come to mind were Perry Como and Carol Burnett.
Q - What is the most exotic place that you have visited in your travels around the world?
A - The beaches of Australia. They are heaven!
Q - Which male and female golfers do you admire most and why?
A - I admire all of them, but of course I'm Canadian, so I always root for Mike Weir, Stephen Ames and Lorie Kane.
Q - What are you reading these days?
A – I have just finished reading “Rockbound” by Frank Parker Day. I couldn’t put it down.

Q - Which of your many television specials is your favourite?
A - "Anne Murray In Nova Scotia".

Q - Who are your sports heroes?
A - I have so many…Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzky, Mike Weir, Duke Snider (of the 1950’s Brooklyn Dodgers) and Billie Jean King.
Q - What was your first summer job?
A - My first job was at the Keltic Lodge in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where I worked as a staff maid during the summer, following my first year at Mount St. Vincent University. They regularly hired students, and I had the slight advantage, as one of my brothers had worked there the summer before. Along with three other girls, I was in charge of cleaning the staff quarters. This meant changing the beds, scrubbing the floors, cleaning the toilets, setting the tables and cleaning up after meals. After a few weeks, I was offered a promotion - an opportunity to work as a guest maid. While this meant the possibility of receiving tips, it also meant longer hours and I decided my hours were long enough, so I declined. To this day, I can still clean a mean toilet and I can miter the corner of a bed to perfection. You can just imagine the look of astonishment on a Vegas hotel maid's face a number of years ago, when I, the headliner at the hotel that week, showed her how to properly make a bed!
